Mariam and Fatima along with their elder sister, Faryal, started glass painting in 2002. They started painting on flat glass slabs and mirrors and then, very quickly, moved onto curved pieces which was apart from the usual. Their art beautified numerous candle holders, jewellery boxes, vases, jugs, cookie jars and bottles.
"Glass painting became even more fun when mummy picked up the brush and painted some pieces. It became a family fun activity that would accommodate so much gossip - hands busy painting, eyes fixed to the art and gossip running in the background," Mariam said.
Fatima added, "When we got perfection in our strokes we started participating in art and craft fairs across the UAE showcasing our talent."
In addition to this, the three sisters designed glass painting courses and taught many ladies the art. They shared their experiences with them and gave them tips to obtain the perfect look.
Participation in the House of Talents 2003, a month long art and craft fair, organised during the prestigious Dubai Shopping Festival was one of their major successes where they sold hundreds of ornamented glassware.
Although the three don't paint at present their love for the art still remains.
