"In each other’s company we enjoy doing everything – from diverse activities to boring nothings..." - Fatima Masood
Games
At the age of 4 we got access to computers where our association with games started. In our early years our elder siblings would load games for us and we would enjoy playing them. The very first games we remember playing were Cat, Xenon, Pacman, Prince of Persia and Pest. Then we were gifted Sega Mega Drive – a video gaming machine that turned out to be our childhood friend. We played Mickey Mouse, Dick Tracy, Merc, Bare Knuckles, Sonic and many other names difficult to remember.
Years passed playing countless games. We thoroughly enjoyed Red Alert, Diablo, Need for Speed, Heretic, Doom, Vice City, No One Lives Forever and Commandos. We finished many of these games which gave us a huge sense of accomplishment and enormous happiness. Few years ago we were gifted PlayStation 2 (a machine dedicated to games) by our elder sister, Faryal. The fun continued...
PlayStation 3 and Wii came to our house in 2008. Since then we have played and finished many games. The fun continues...
Board Games
We have a good collection of board games which we would love to play regularly but won’t often get time. Some of the earliest ones were Trivial Pursuits, Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, Ludo and as years went by we added Taboo, Pay Day, Mad Magazine, Cluedo, Cluedo Mysteries, Snakes and Ladders and World Cup Cricket. Other games that can be slotted into board games like Jenga, Hangman, Dominoes, Connect 4, Chess and Carrom are also preferable time killers.
Puzzles
Very recently we discovered our liking for puzzles. We do remember making puzzles as children but we had never realised how much we enjoyed making them. To date we have made several puzzles of a wide range. A manageable difficulty level is a 500 pieces puzzle which has a picture with distinguished colours. Recently we made a spherical puzzle of 540 pieces – Disney’s Winnie the Pooh. It was fun because the pieces were made of plastic and the end product was a beautiful ball. We are searching for a spherical world map puzzle so that once we finish making it we have a puzzle globe! (Haven’t seen it in the markets yet)
Reading and Writing
Both these activities bring immense satisfaction, knowledge and happiness. We have enjoyed reading and writing equally. This is like a medicine prescribed by the mind for its wellness. Readers are thinkers and thinkers are writers, so we are all the three!
